During our van ride to DLSU-Dasma University for a job fair, our Recruitment Head, Maffi, asked me for a suggestion how to convince candidates to wait for 2-3 months before the start of their employment with us. She said they already identified the right profile who are willing to wait because they are rendering 30-60 days before separating from their current employer or they are happy to take personal / family time off before they join our organization, etc. Her challenge is there are at least 8 other large BPOs in the vicinity who are also aggressively hiring with very attractive packages.
We conceptualized a “keep warm” event called Kickstart. Let’s invite them to attend their Grand Welcome Party and let them experience our work culture, our core values and the hearts of our fellow Associates first hand.
She found it exciting and said how do we do this? I said, “I don’t know”.
Let’s invite the leads of all Associate engagement groups and my Mission Ambassador leads for a workshop and let them suggest how best to welcome our future fellow Associates.
The consensus was red carpet fiesta treatment! This includes welcome at the gate by the senior leaders, song & dance numbers, major buffet with lechon, photo booth & games, each group escorted by a Mission Ambassador answering all the questions they have, and senior leadership joining them to eat at each of the dinner tables. All engagement groups each have a booth to showcase what they do, the activities they have and largely represented by frontline Associates.
Results: close to 100% retention of candidates in every batch of our “keep warm” Grand Welcome Party events.

Our good friend, Jaime, invited us to watch the Blue Man Group when we were in Las Vegas. Their show was very interactive and filed with creative & theatrical ways to communicate through sounds, lights and fun.
