One of the case studies during my MBA in Ateneo Graduate School of Business around 2005 was about the expansion of Disneyland in Hong Kong. I recall how my group presented in class…. We dressed up the classroom like Disneyland, we had lights, colors and we started our case study defense with me signing in acapela the song.. “When you wish upon a star”. Our professor was amazed and since then all case study defenses needed to have a creative flare for an additional point.

Folks around the world say that the happiest place on Earth is Disneyland. I have personally proven that it is only true depending on who you are sharing the theme park experience with. In May 2017, I went to Disney World by myself coz I was in Florida for a conference. I took the opportunity to drive to Orlando the weekend before the conference. I spent Saturday and Sunday in two theme parks. It made me miss my family even more coz I was alone. Oh how I wish they were with me so I can be truly happy.

My peer at work and idol, Gutsy, said that we can only become a great place to work if ALL our Associates are successful. Only when you are successful can you decide to be happy, engaged, or crave for more. If Associates are happy & engaged but not delivering on the commitments to our clients, then the business will fail. Hence, the engagement and leadership programs and everything you see and feel at work are designed to ensure all our Associates become successful.

*About the video

If Disneyland already owns the tagline “the happiest place on Earth is Disneyland” then, the second happiest place on Earth is being with you. YOU who is my family, YOU who is my Team, and YOU who is my Community.

Oh well, it’s time for my signature jump shot in front of Cinderella’s Castle.

“When You Wish Upon a Star” is written by Leigh Harline and Ned Washington. It was first sung by Cliff Edwards in the character of Jimmy Cricket.
