You Can’t Do That…
SNAPS DAY 354

The importance of integrity in the workplace is like the air we breathe. It is anchored on the organization’s core values. It ensures everyone, especially the leaders, do the right things and makes the right ethical decisions for all its stakeholders. It is the foundation of trust and camaraderie in the organization . This virtue applies equally to Associates, clients, suppliers and the community.
However, the reality is that there are a few rotten apples in some organizations. Some of them cause negativity to other Associates. If you are in this situation, if you are being bullied or harassed, I encourage you to report the situation to your Human Resource department or to your whistleblower program. Do not be afraid because you have the right to be respected and be heard. Let me share some instances in my past organizations where justice was served.
There is a manager who regularly announces the names of Associates at the bottom of the stack rank in an insulting manner, using funny names and often times use cursing words. The Associates reported this bad behavior to Human Resources and the manager separated from the company. There is a client who frequently shouts the F and S word and your name in one sentence. I told his boss about it and he politely apologized. We discovered a manager who lends money with a profit to Associates. The manager holds-on to the ATM of Associates to ensure they pay their dues during pay day. This was reported to HR and the manager separated from the company. There is a manager who tweaks his Team’s performance so they can get cash incentives. This was caught and they were all separated after due process was conducted by HR. There is a client who use very offensive words to describe our Associates and demanded we terminate the worst 10 Associates ASAP. She walked around my production floor shouting out the first names of the Associates. When we cannot find anyone and she finally shared the full names and login IDs…. We found out “NO ONE” was from my Center. The worst 10 were from another vendor. I informed her boss because she refused to apologize to my Team for the harsh words she said on my production floor. She was re-assigned and later the Quality as a Service (QaaS) work was awarded to our Team. There is a married senior executive who dates Associates. Associates were afraid to report this to HR because he is high up in the structure. One of the Associates reported it to the whistle blower program and after investigation he was separated immediately.
*About the photo
I brought my family to Pinto Museum in Antipolo, Rizal last year. My two daughters had their picture taken in one of the art exhibits that had these words you see on the photo. I believe those words describe the few rotten apples I mentioned above.
