Mettle and Grit

SNAPS DAY 322

Similar to the corporate battlefield, leaders are always in the forefront along with their Associates engaging and servicing customer. Whether it’s a good day or a bad day at work, leaders remain steady, composed and always battle-ready because they know the war is not yet over. They are prepared to fight and win the long war ahead and not just the small battles of each day. They never abandon their Associates. They continue to inspire and remain positive. They constantly remind their Associates about the organization’s purpose, core values and business imperatives. This is why every Team meeting, mentorship session, and engagement activities always contain these organizational elements and anchors.

True enough, this sometimes start slow or with disbelief to achieve the big hairy audacious goals. Then after the disbelief, the first action steps occur. Each member of the Team motivates each other and moves forward & upward through hurdles, arrows and setbacks. They are extremely self disciplined, they collaborate & align, they rely & amplify each other’s strengths, and, courageously persevere. As all engines are fired up, the Team’s curiosity and thinking out-of-the box fuel innovation and transformation towards success. The Team’s culture of having mettle and grit overcome the toughest challenges like pandemics, storms and earthquakes in the corporate arena. Their ability to achieve and exceed their goals is remarkable. They reward themselves by sharing best practices to others, to the next generation of leaders, to the ones who will replace them as they take-on the next level roles.

This is just like the marriage vows: for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, ‘til death do us part.

This photo is when me and my gorgeous wife Prudence got married in December 30, 1994. Fast forward to today, we continue to guide, support and inspire our 4 awesome kids and 1 grandchild. No matter what challenges come out way, we have decided to be there for each other because we are family.
