The rings of positivity

SNAPS DAY 298

10/25/20222 min read

Today, be ever grateful for all the positive things that happen in your life, career and relationships. Share this positivity to your Teammates, clients and community; share it with your boss.

Half of my Fridays are typically focused on MBWA (management by walking around). Call me old school but this is my golden opportunity to do a “slow-walk” to each and every workstation of my entire Site. I take my time to have short chats with all my Associates about their family, they show me photos of their loved ones, photos of their child getting stars & medals in school, some have food in the pantry that they cooked for me coz they know I do my rounds on Fridays, they tell me about their amazing Team Leaders, some tell me about their career aspirations, some share insights about their process, some ask me to sing a few lines of a song they like or a birthday song, some ask me to dance the latest on Tiktok, they meet me as me… “Patrick”.

Meanwhile, a few Associates tell me about the elderly or ill loved one they are caring for at home. A few are in tears expressing they are going through very tough challenges at home and still never late because they draw inspiration when with their Teammates. When this happens, I usually tell the Team Leader to give the frontline Associate 30 minutes personal time-off in the coaching area or pantry so s/he can reset and be ready for the work of the day. I also meet my Associates through virtual focused group discussions for folks working from home.

I learn a lot of things about my Associates when I MBWA. I tell my leaders that I realized life always has a lot of challenges and some will be extremely tough. What we can do for each other is to take one-minute of silence to pray to our God, and, another minute of silence to hear what our God is telling us. Then, open your eyes and trust the rest of the day will be fine.

*About the photo
I met my gorgeous wife Prudence by chance in 1992 because she dialed the wrong number on the phone. We decided to be “phone pals”, trusted each other, aligned our goals and decided to write our love story of forever together. We now have 4 awesome kids, an amazing son-in-law and our charming granddaughter, Avree, with her super smile.

Today, we went to the safety deposit box in the bank to get some documents for a difficult errand we have tirelessly been processing for months now. We were feeling a bit exhausted and then we saw the box that contains our wedding rings & her engagement ring. All three rings became so small it won’t fit even our left pinkie fingers. We looked at each other, we both smiled and got energized again.

Truly, no matter how tough things may be, remember that God is great all the time.
