Company policies are set of rules that all Associates abide with whatever you rank may be. These rules are anchored on the organization’s core values, they support the organization’s business model, and, must comply with all the laws of the country and state where the organization operates in.

There are no ifs or buts. Policies are applied equally, fairly, swiftly and consistently to ALL Associates. It also applies to my direct reports, it applies to me, and also my boss and those even higher. Along with the guidance of Human Resources, I have experienced terminating Associates across all levels for violating company policies. Most are performance-related while some are related to abuse of power and sexual harassment.

*About the photo

My father was a Regional Trial Court Judge. He was assigned to a Special Court along with 2 other judges to handle heinous crimes, big drug related crimes, rebellion and other high-profile cases. These three judges were tagged by the media as “Hukom Bitay” (hanging judges). They strictly enforced the law fairly, honestly, equally and swiftly when someone is proven guilty regardless whether you are a politician, police, military, rebel, businessmen, religious folks, or ordinary citizens.

This is a photo of a newspaper article about the 3 judges a few decades ago. Dad has the bigger photo in the article.

For me, my father is the most courageous man I know. I recall when I was a teenager, my father’s courtroom was burned three times coincidentally the weekend before a major celebrated case is to be given its verdict the Monday that followed. He received death threats, letters with a bullet or a granade pin or a black candle, and other similar threats. Despite all that, dad never got a bodyguard, he rides public transportation, he does his gardening in front of our house, and, we still walk to the nearby wet market every 4:30am usually on Saturdays to buy food and produce. One time I asked him: “Dad, aren’t you afraid?” He said:

“Of course I’m afraid but I want you and your siblings to know that no matter what threats come your way, you must never be afraid to always do the right thing.
