"Easier Said Than Done"

SNAPS DAY 239

Leading is not just about winning, it is about bringing your entire Team with you to all the finish lines you face. No one gets left behind. So when you have someone in your team who is struggling, you must do everything to help the Associate get back on track. There are several ways to approach this. What I found effective is the simple model of either skill or will or sometimes both. While this sounds elementary, if you reflect, this happens even at senior levels of the organization.

For those who need help to improve their skills, ensure you provide targeted mentoring sessions for top challenges identified aside from your regular mentorship sessions and enrollment in refresher trainings and developmental programs. Sometimes, it’s providing the right influential SME Buddy, involvement in special projects and in combination with motivation (will) conversations. For those who have will issues, as their leader, you must already know their SWOT, goals and aspirations. Have a series of heart to heart conversations with your Associate. Respect and provide the help your Associate needs based on your conversations. Some will require more motivation and push while a few may need a change of environment…

For those who need help in both, you may need a Coach to help YOU bring out your untapped skills and realize your compelling whys.

This is one of fun activities we have during job fairs. There’s a major price when you stack 8 metal nuts on top of each other with one try. You get a consolation price if you stack at least 5. No second tries. This is harder than it looks.
