"Boys Don't Dance"
SNAPS DAY 229
8/17/20221 min read
Team buildings are one of the most anticipated events by everyone including me. It’s a venue to have a light and relaxed conversation about how our Team performance has been in achieving our business imperatives. It enables the Senior Leadership Team to have a different approach in driving the message to all Frontline Leaders and Associates in achieving the Team’s wildly important goals.
When we are winning, the activities are designed to appreciate and rally Team’s behavior towards consistently exceeding performance metrics. On the other hand, when we are loosing, the activities are designed to influence a change in the Team’s behavior towards achieving specific focus areas that need to improve urgently. The alignment of the organizations goals and the individual goals of the Team are reignited, call-to-action agreements are established, and a battle-cry is formed to drive the Team forward with high spirits.

He also said they were inspired by one of the teachings of their school founder that they can "run, jump, make noise but do not sin" - St. John Bosco
This serious messaging is dovetailed with a lighter part of the Team Building agenda to strengthening camaraderie and Family Spirit in the Team. This is done through rewards & recognition, sharing of talents like singing or dancing, conducting game activities like the Amazing Race, plus having a lot of food.

My son, Great (wearing glasses 3rd from the left), and his DBTI-M batch mates won this Cheer Dance Competition in their school. I asked him what was their secret sauce in winning and he said:
“First and foremost, we treat each one in our batch as bothers. So to get to this winning final pose, we went through a lot of hard work in convincing all our batch mates to dance….., we practiced more than the other batches, and, when we commit to something, we give it our best.”
