Challenges are part of life. As a leader, the challenges you face includes that of your Team, your client and organization. There are occasions when there are multiple & complex challenges that you must solve all at the same time. When this happens, you prioritize. Solve low hanging fruits first so you quickly energize yourself with these small wins. Then, tackle the big and complex ones.

Remember you constantly need to cherish and learn from the experience, how you & your Team resolved it, and then move forward as a stronger person who’s ready for the next challenge.

*About the video

If you have very complex challenges to solve…. please watch this video of children from ultra poor communities to understand their 4-letter word challenge daily.

I conducted an onsite inspection of our daily feeding program in Calauan Laguna along with my Head of IFG Nutrition pillar, the Country Head of RAH and the Salesian brothers & their partners. Our IFG program in year 2018 feeds 2,000 children daily all-year-round across various feeding centers in 4 barangays in Calauan. When I sent this video to our Senior Leadership Team of several children sad and crying because they ran out of food; and it’s the same situation in our other feeding center due to a huge population of children in this area… our SLT immediately approved to increase the budget to FEED 3,000 CHILDREN DAILY ALL-YEAR-ROUND effective immediately even before I left Calauan Laguna that moment. The Salesian brothers thanked our Good Lord for this blessing and prayed for our SLT.

This student in the video told us their teacher understands if they are late in class because they need to get food first. He has a younger sister who can’t walk so he’s the one getting food for two… daily.

***Do not waste “FOOD”. A lot of children are starving daily***

p.s.

I used to head the IFG community service program of my previous organization. I created 3 pillars - Outreach, Nutrition and Education or simply ONE IFG. We have 94% unique volunteerism rate from our 4,000+ employees.

We adopted the community supported by the Salesian brothers in this area composed of relocatees from different parts of Metro Manila. If you are wondering where did the shanties along rivers, railroad tracks and other illegal settlements went…. at least 11,000 of them in 2018 are here in Calauan.
