One day in DLSU-College of St Benilde around 1992… me and my classmates were waiting for our new Economics 101 professor to arrive. At 14 minutes into the class, the secretary of the Dean told us our new professor called and said he is on his way and we must wait for him. At 30 minutes into the 60-minute class…

“This is my Economic 101 class, right?!”
“Do you know why I arrived late?!” (silence)
“Can anyone guess why I arrived late?!” (still silence)
“I thought La Sallians are smart?! Can anyone guess why I arrived late?!”
Someone whispered.. “It was traffic, sir?”
The professor acknowledged in relief. “Yes!! You are correct!!"
"I AM LATE BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC!!”
Then, in a very passionate, somewhat action packed thought-provoking manner... he started asking each and every student seated in the front up to the last student seated at the back of the room on the effects of traffic to the economy.
Some of the things he said were…. “When delivery trucks are late, what happens?! When raw materials arrive late in the manufacturing plant what happens?! When the products are produced late what happens?! When these goods arrive late in the stores what happens?! When the customer gets irate because there are no stocks in the stores what happens?! When the planes arrive late what happens?! How does this affect our GDP?! etc, and so on…”
After 20~25 minutes of this…. He wrote his name in bold letters on the whiteboard… "MARLO SANCHEZ".
He picked up his bag and said… “Class dismissed”. Then, left without slamming the door.
All of us continued to be in awe and after a few seconds started clapping our hands in amazement of our new Economics professor and started cheering.
p.s.
We found out later that he arrived late and did the same to all of his other Economics 101 classes.
*About the photo
Japan is known to have a very organized culture and practices JIT or Just In Time inventory control system which helps their economy.
I brought my family to Japan a couple of times so they can experience this amazing culture. Here we are at Gotemba Premium Outlets over-looking Mt Fuji.
Suddenly the door went… “SLAM!!!!”
An irritated and haggard looking man wearing glasses, had a goatee, messed up hair, he was wearing a Barong with 2 buttons opened and perspiring all-over entered the classroom. He dropped his leather bag on the table and sat on the professor’s chair.
We were all stunned, each one went back immediately to our chairs and the classroom was silent.
After catching his breath... the professor stood up pacing from left to right shaking his head then said with an attitude…
