Growing up, I appreciate the guidance and mentorship of both my mom and dad because they teach me a lot of lessons about life, importance of household chores, school, career, relationships, being nationalistic, love for the environment and to always do the right thing especially when no one is watching.

They said that my journey is going to be very different from what they went through before. There was no personal computer, no smart phones, no Google and there was limited technology during their time. They said my challenges and wins will be different. They both told me not to worry because the basics will be the same - to always work extra hard to achieve my goals in life. They said to aim higher than what they have accomplished because “the student must strive to be better than the teacher”.

At work, I always share everything I know to my Team so they can become successful, so they can achieve their goals and so they can also help others become successful. I told them they have access to the latest analytics, automation and transformation tools. They have a global network of subject matter experts they can collaborate with. I will be extremely proud if they are able to surpass their mentor.

*About the photo

This medal for the Most Outstanding Student Leader was given to my son, Great, when he was the Student Council President back when he was in 6TH GRADE in Regis Grace Montissori School. He implemented student learning, sports and extra curricular activities during his term.

When I took this photo, he told me jokingly… “Papa, I recall one of the lessons you taught me is that the student must be better than the teacher? Can you remind me when were you a Student Council President?”

LOL… I said smiling, “During my senior year in college. Papa is humbled and proud that you are better than me anak. Keep it up.”
