My workmates are family. I am responsible to ensure that the leadership promise of our vision, mission and core values comes to life throughout their lifecycle as an Associate in the organization. These are not just pretty posters on the walls but must be felt in all touch points of our Associates so they can focus on doing the greatest work of their lives.

I consistently engage with all my Associates most especially my frontline Associates. I love walking the production floors to check on my Team, ask how they are, chat about their kids’ achievements in school, greet them on their birthdays, thank them for coming to work, be physically present and available when they need me. I do my best to be there for them and help them with whatever is possible when they need me especially during their difficult times.

Any of my leaders know this… when I notice during my floor walks that one of my frontline Associates is greatly bothered by a personal situation (has a very sick family member, passing of a loved one, etc) and still decided to come to work to service our customers, I tell them to give the Associate a 30-minute time out and tag it as “mentorship session with Patrick” so the Associate can take a breather, make a personal phone call or just personal alone time. This is very important to me.

I am also an Associate of the organization and I am humbled to have the best job in the world…. to serve my fellow Associates.

*About the photo

Malasakit is a Filipino word that cannot be directly translated to English or any other language because it is an unexplainable endless positive feeling of pure trust, heartfelt love and genuine concern to a person, a Team, a nation or humanity.

Aside from my role as a Director for Operations, I have the honor to also be the Director for the Mission Ambassador program of one of my previous organizations. This #ilivethemission campaign lasted for 4 years and became the symbol of positivity, performance, loyalty and malasakit.
