The general practice in Transitions is if you do not do your deliverables because you are very busy, the Transition Manager escalates you to your boss so your boss can do it or have you prioritize the deliverable.

I realized that the folks identified to be part of a transitions project and their next level boss honestly do not know the transitions process and their roles during a transition project. This has resulted to a lot of conflict and delays in transition project timelines.

To solve this, I got myself certified to conduct the 1-Day Transitions Took Kit Training and re-branded it as Transitions Training for non-Transition Managers and made it a BIG DEAL in the Philippines Site.

When there are new transition projects, I recommend my graduates to be part of the Seed Team. During the Weekly ManCom meetings, I spotlight the names of the Support folks for their contributions (or non contribution) and acknowledge their respective ManCom leader as a great mentor (and if they did not do anything). When we launch new projects, the big successful launch announcements include the photos and a short write-ups about the contributions of everyone in the transition project. I also made sure that during performance management process, I talk about the contributions (or non-contribution) of Delivery and Support folks which influences ratings and promotion.

*Results:

All the high-potential managers from Delivery and ALL Support Functions enroll in my Transitions Training. Now, everyone across all departments know the transition process and their specific roles & deliverables at each tollgate. As a result, it is raining perfect 5/5 Executive VOCs (voice of customer) survey for my Transition Managers across all their transition projects.

One of my Transition Managers, “perfect” Sheila… got perfect 5/5 VOC consecutively for 12 transition projects and all her clients told me how amazing she is and that I should to promote her. Yes, I did…. twice.

*Prize:

The price of the Best Transitions Team is that our global Transitions leader attends the Global Transition Leadership Town Hall in-person from that Site (country). They told me that historically, its always a site within India who wins. It is rare that another country wins.

On my second year attending this event, our Global Transitions Leader started his opening remarks by saying…

“MABUHAY!!! I am glad to be here in the Philippines!!!”

*About the photo
