Our 4 awesome kids assembled 30 packs of food & gifts. We attended mass, bought religious item and started gift giving at the car park at Our Lady of Manaog Shrine in Pangasinan Province.
Immediately there was a long line of children and adults. After counting 30 children aged up to 14 yrs old, our kids started giving food packs & gifts.
Suddenly, there was a swarm of more street children who cut in the line. I paused the gift giving and my wife Prudence immediately asked our 4 kids to go inside the car (Elisa was only 3 y.o. then).
I cleared the participants and told those at the back that we already gave over half of the 30 packs that the kids brought. When our kids went out of the car to continue their gift giving, there were even more kids who joined the line.
Somehow… our kids MIRACULOUSLY were able to give food & gifts to ALL of the kids in the line.
As I was slowly driving out of the parking lot, multiple kids were knocking hard on my rear right window. My eldest daughter, Nina, opened the window by an inch and shouted
“Sorry po, ubos na!” (Sorry, there are no more gifts)
One of the kids threw a religious amulet through the window. My daughter, Nina, threw it back out through the window and said:
“Sorry, hindi kami bibili, meron na kami nyan” (We will not buy, we already have those”
The boy said “Ate.. Ate.., bigay ko po yan sa iyo kasi binigyan mo ako ng pagkain at regalo” (I am not selling it. I am giving it to you because you gave me food & a gift).
When I heard that, I stopped the car.
Suddenly… there were multiple religious rosaries, amulets, bracelets & prayer booklets that the street kids threw through that 1 inch opening on my car window saying "Thank you po!"
Everyone inside my car was quiet and very emotional as we drove away from the Shrine. Then, one of my kids said:
“Ang galing noh. We went here to give. It seems WE WERE THE ONES WHO RECEIVED.” “Mom, Dad.. can we do this again next year?”
Then everyone in the car started praying and crying happy tears.
(Stay tuned for 3/4)
