“Please identify 2 people you asked help from to help you develop one of your competencies that made you great.”

These are two of the questions I ask when I assess a high potential associate for a promotion. Leadership roles are about helping others bring out their best, and, being vulnerable in receiving help from others.

My siblings, Coach Nath and Dra Lenlen, are based in Los Angeles. They taught me a lot of life lessons and tips that help me in my professional work. When I started traveling to the US for business, they both mentored me in understanding the North American culture which helped me engage, communicate and service my clients better. A Filipino habit I had to unlearn was calling my clients sir or ma’am, and then.. learn to call them by their first name. Doing this confidently made a whole lot of difference. I share this with my Team so they also become successful.
