Based on my experience, once you get to the shortlisted three.. C-level Clients are no longer interested with your PowerPoint slides, videos, & demos. Their initial screening Team has already done a great job in down selecting vendors. C-level folks are visiting to get to know “you” better. Since it’s not always a nice sunny day, they want to determine if “you” are the partner they can trust… and who they’re comfortable with to wake them up in the middle of the night or to call them during their family vacation to inform them… there’s a major problem that s/he needs to be aware of, you’ve solved it already with her/his Team, and an executive summary is in her/his inbox in case s/he wants to know more. Oh, and that s/he need not worry about it.

One evening, I just fetched my C-level clients from their hotel. They missed their dinner because of their back to back 2 vendor meetings and their flight was early the following day. We had a fun conversation in the van about Filipino culture, Manny, how education is very important & parents hang diplomas of their children on the wall, and a lot of Filipinos who are US citizens (like my brother & sister) and what they miss dearly about the Philippines like Jollibee.

While they were going through security checks in our Site Reception area, one of my clients said… “Oh! What do I do with all these Philippine pesos? I exchanged $100 when we arrived at the airport yesterday… hahaha”

I told him politely as a joke… “Well, you can buy us dinner. There’s a Jollibee in the building”

You can see their faces light up and both excitingly said… “Yeah!! Can we do that?! I think you have people waiting for us in the Boardroom..”

So, I informed the presenting Team jokingly that Jollibee is more exciting than their ppt slides. I grabbed our Ops Manager who’s the seed Team for this client & our seasoned Recruiter for this industry vertical to join us eat. We ate Chicken Joy, Jolly Spaghetti, and Black Forest Sundae at Jollibee… delicious!

Back in the Boardroom, we talked about Jollibee’s focus on patiently listening and understand their customers’ palette (taste), their desire to make every bite a jolly experience, and their efficient servicing which is sweet coz they value their customers’ time. We compared this to our solution which was carefully designed to delight their customers.

Yup, the extra gravy of the chicken joy won this deal for us.

About the photo:

My “great” Collections Team was celebrating another outstanding performance for the quarter and that time our Serve Associates Work Stream decided to have a kiddie party. Of course, Jollibee was invited and joined me for a “Patrick Pose” photo op.
