When Everything Is A Priority
SNAPS DAY 350
12/16/20221 min read
When priorities pile up, I suggest you take a pause, relax, get a pen & paper and write everything down. Combine deliverables into categories that are similar or complementary to each other. Identify which ones are urgent and important, which ones have the greater impact, and which ones need more effort to complete.
I typically first close-out all low hanging fruits & those with minimal effort to immediately shorten my list and get inspired to close the urgent and high impact deliverables. After those, my list is shorter so I can dedicate un-rushed quality time to resolve important and complex ones. There will be items that are not realistically doable. For those, I ask my boss or other SMEs for help. It is worth knowing that while all these major whirlwinds are happening, more deliverables will continue to pour in. Relax and don’t worry. Set them aside and write them on the next page. Why stress yourself when more will arrive tomorrow. So, complete deliverables perfectly one at a time.
*About the video
When my family is overwhelmed with a lot of things to do, we call upon the other family members for motivation and encouragement. Our options are eating, sleeping, mani-pedi, online shopping, singing or dancing. This video is me & my daughter, Tres, dancing to the #ricoricodancechallenge in Tiktok while waiting for our food delivery in our home in Cebu. This was when I was very busy with work and she was busy & stressed with her online quarterly exams for school.
