My dad once told me: “The student must be greater than the teacher”.
Leaders are committed to guide & develop their mentees from how to take baby steps, up to how to run, and then, how to spread their wings and fly. Leaders are dedicated in ensuring their mentees are constantly motivated to bring out their best element. They guide them towards the right path even when strong turbulence and complex obstacles come their way. They coach them as they navigate through whirlwinds and distractions. They power-through with them to find a glimpse of light when in the middle of pitch darkness. They empower their mentees to take center stage and demonstrate their brilliance in their own unique way. Mentees evolve to become the next exceptional leader. One that is prudent, does the right thing, and, charismatic. They also have access to the latest technology and overall grow to become greater than their teacher.

Leaders also work harmoniously with their mentees empowering them to shine their brightest. They deliberately share some insights every now and then to reaffirm to their mentees that they are doing awesome and should continue the path. They evolve from being the leader to being the supporter and then let go as their mentees rise towards their own greatness.
This handsome guy playing the guitar is my son, Great Angelo. Around 5 years ago, I chanced upon him creating music with his guitar in his bedroom. He did not know I was filming and was surprised when he saw me. I asked if he has already written the lyrics for the song he is creating and he said not yet. I told him one of the popular new wave bands of the 1980s, Tears for Fears, typically start writing the music first and then add the lyrics later. So trying to be the cool dad, I tried to jam with my son in a fun way just to make him smile. At the end of the day, my heart is full that I was able to create a happy moment me and my son we will both treasure for a lifetime.
True to his name, he is a great angel not only to us but also to others. He lives the values of the Salazar family very dearly and always does the right thing. Growing up with 3 female siblings, he is very respectful of other people especially to women. He is a student leader and is an adviser to his friends & peers. He is very focused on his academics, building relationship with a lot of friends, is always caring for his community and has a solid relationship with God. He is now a graduating college student taking up Human Resource Management from DLSU - College of Saint Benilde.
Today, 10-09-2022, is is birthday. Happy 23rd birthday anak! Papa is very proud of the young man you have become. I love you very much anak!
