Open-door or No-Door Policy
SNAPS DAY 302

Having an Open-door Policy is nice to have. I suggest having a No-Door Policy is more ideal because the working relationship across the organization is built on consistent and genuine trust.
You can never fake being a genuine People-First Leader. It is about consistently showing up in the frontlines, listening to calls doing side by sides, conducting skip levels meetings and focused group discussions and then acting on your commitments & giving them an update of the results. It is about respecting the rest days and vacation days of your leaders not asking them to bring their laptops while on a family holiday. Its about being there with your Associates in the face of the pandemic lockdowns, super typhoons and earthquakes.
Servant Leadership does not start and end with a nice photo in social media with your frontline Associates or a nice power point slide presenting to clients that you have a robust leadership development program and yet do not have a deep bench for your Seed Team to start new programs. It is about creating a customized leadership development program for all leadership levels, aligning policies & promotions to the organization’s core values, and, providing competitive compensation packages. Its about creating a professional family-centered working environment that your Associates will want to grow their careers in.
*About the photos
Here are some scenes during the last week of March 2020 when we provided several hotel options housing almost 1 thousand of our Associates for a couple of months, purchasing additional food for our Associates working in the office, conducting inspections of health & safety protocols in the office, and, loading my last set of clothes in my car to be with my Associates before the lockdown of Cebu City.
I remember last March 16, 2020 was the day we launched our Jump Start Leadership Development Program which continued through the lockdowns and produced over 700 graduates. This enabled us to double our Site head count in the middle of the lockdowns because we had ready & certified Team Leaders, Quality Associates, Trainers, Recruiters, HR Business Partners, and Work Force Analysts. We were able to provide jobs to over a thousand Associates coming from other BPM organizations who closed or downsized.
