"Number 7"

SNAPS DAY 286

10/13/20222 min read

This conversation struck me because I did not understand the gossiping, power tripping and Pride he is demonstrating as a boss. Everything I learned from my parents, school and community is about helping others selflessly. I asked myself, is this the office politics that I was warned about? I wonder why can’t we just share positivity to others so we all progress as a Team and as an organization.

That boss who spoke with me in the cafeteria went to our VP and questioned why it wasn’t him that was sent to Japan as part of the Special Projects Team for a global project.

(This is the same boss in my #365SNAPS Day 26).

*About the photo

Do you see Godzilla in the photo?

I took this photo during one of our family vacations in Tokyo Japan last December 2016. I took this photo while standing in front of Don Quijote Shinjuku branch. Being the biggest discount store in Japan, you must whop at DQ when you go too Japan.

Godzilla is a fictional monster character who first appeared in a 1954 film.

Avoid similar characters at work.

Cheer for your fellow leaders who get a promotion at work! It is an affirmation that with passion, action and collaboration, everyone will advance and achieve their goals!

Just before I got regularized in my very first employment, it was that time of the year when appraisals & promotions were discussed by the bosses. One of our bosses told me in strict confidence in the cafeteria: “I am sorry, you’re only rank #7! You should stop helping your peers so you’ll move up faster in this company and be a boss like me.” He continued sharing how great his performance is, and, why he is better than all the other managers. Besides, he is indeed one of the top managers regularly receiving awards and recognition. What is consistent though is he in love with his abilities and do not acknowledge his Team.

Here’s what happened to the Top 6 folks: 4 got promoted and 2 resigned.

In my case, I got regularized on my 6th month, got promoted on my 7th month, sent to Japan as part of the Special Projects Team for a global project on my 10th month, I got moved to a higher role after implementing the special project across our dealer network after my first year in my very first job.
