"Kids Grow Really Fast!"
SNAPS DAY 273
9/30/20221 min read
A colleague in the industry asked me to coach her about what she described as her worsening relationship with her boss. She fears she will get fired soon. She is very uncomfortable that her boss rarely talks to her, doesn’t provide feedback about the reports she regularly sends, doesn’t interfere when she has client escalations, and, approves 90% of her recommendations & budget requests.
After several coaching conversations, she realized that her boss has a high degree of trust in her capabilities as a leader and has delegated the entire operations to her so she can grow, mature and evolve to the next level of leadership. Her boss practices a Laissez-faire leadership style with her. She told me it’s her first time to encounter a boss who is hands-off on how she manages her operations that’s why she feels uncomfortable.
What she identified she must do is to establish a fortnightly or at least a monthly catch-up with her boss over breakfast or coffee since her boss doesn’t like formal meetings. She became highly motivated realizing her boss has high trust and confidence with her and that she’s not getting fired.

*About the photo
Last February, me and my gorgeous wife Prudence gave our blessings to our eldest daughter, Nina, to get married. It was just like yesterday when I can carry her in one hand as a cute baby. She and her handsome husband, Titus, have their own home. We are proud of how they are managing their household on their own.
