"Into The Storm"

SNAPS DAY 268

9/25/20222 min read

Even when there’s a super typhoon or strong earthquake, the Filipino worker will do whatever it takes to ensure her/his family is safe, and then will report for work. In all the natural calamities in the Philippines that I have experienced, my Teams’ attendance is always reliable. In extreme situations, a few might be late but they will arrive even if they need to brave strong winds and deep floods. Moreover, it’s common to see some of our Associates bring extra food and dry clothes to share even if the organization also provides these. This demonstrates the Filipino workers’ malasakit (genuine care) and commitment to their loved ones, their fellow Associates and to their customers. It’s good that since the pandemic, work from home options are now allowed by regulators and clients.

Super Typhoon Noru (Karding) just hit land in the Philippines today, September 25, 2022. It’s raining cats and dogs this evening as I am writing this #365SNAPS at home. The country is prepared. My work Family in the office is prepared. Our BCP Team and my Delivery Team give the leadership Team updates every 2 - 4 hours. All my clients are pre-informed of our preparations and they’ll be given updates until the storm is over. Proudly, all my Teams today have “perfect attendance”.

*About the photo

My family prayed to St Padre Pio to help us pray to God during one of the most challenging storms in our family. We celebrate Saint Padre Pio’s feast day on September 23 and this is the reason today’s Sunday mass is special. This is why me and my family drove to the Padre Pio Shrine in Sto. Tomas Batangas this morning despite news about the typhoon. This my grand daughter Avree’s photo in front of the altar after the mass.

This also puts a spotlight on the culture of the organization, how it takes special care of its Associates both working in the office & remotely, it’s proactive preparedness for any type of business continuity situation, and leadership who is hands-on.
