"Help Others Become Successful"
SNAPS DAY 263
9/20/20222 min read
Sometimes you see your younger self in one of your mentees when you were starting your career. You see the same passion, commitment and dedication to become successful. You sometimes find yourself smiling because you also see the same rookie mistakes and challenges as s/he tries to master the process, interact with stakeholders and executive presence during meetings. It reminds you how you struggled to find a mentor back then because you were just thrown into the sea and did your best to learn as you swim. You recall how you survived by researching, bravely asked a lot of funny questions, burning the midnight oil and trying & testing new things in order to advance your career.
It pleasantly reminds you how suddenly out-of-the-blue someone took you under her/his wings and taught you all the ropes and selflessly helped you become successful. Now, you feel like paying it forward and helping that person become successful. Go ahead that give the right amount of stretched challenges, complex projects and mentorship as you engage.
Meanwhile as a leader, you view this at a larger scale and extend this career guidance to the rest of your Team. This helps each one of them become successful both as an individual and as part of a larger Team. Im excited in your mutual learning journey towards greatness. Don’t forget to celebrate each success along the way and don’t forget to have fun!

*About the photo
Some say that my daughter, Tres, is my mini me. She physically looks like me. She joins all the organizations and activities that she can to learn more and meet new friends. As a freshman in DLSU, she joined 5 organizations in school and another 2 organizations outside school. I remember during my college days I was active in the Student Council, in the ROTC special unit (SEALS), in our Management Students’ org, I was a disc jockey, a BMX bike rider, active in our charismatic community and part of several other organizations outside school.
Tres loves learning new things, getting several certifications and traveling. I remember when I was her age, I love attending a lot of student leadership programs, getting certification programs during trimestral breaks and traveling around the country and internationally. I do my best to guide her, support her and sometimes join her. As my dad always say "experiential learning is the best way to learn".
One of the recent activities Tres and I did together was the PADI Open Water Diving Certification at Ocean Player Diver Resort in Maragondon Cebu with the help of our Dive Master JM.
