One of my previous bosses always gets the merits and ideas of the Team and blames the Team when there are problems. He even reprimands you in front of the entire department.
Every Monday morning, there is an ExeCom meeting wherein all the bosses provide updates. Our entire Team waits for our extension phones “NOT to ring”. When it does, you get summoned to the Boardroom because you did something incorrect in the report or the ExeCom asked a question that our boss was not able to answer and it is your fault. Some people cry and resign after this. On the other hand... when the project, the presentation, the idea was appreciated by the ExeCom, it’s a merit to our boss’ expertise.
We hear the words “I” and “Me” too often from our boss we think it’s his name.
I told myself that in the future when I am privileged to lead a Team, I do not want to be called boss. I will be a Team Player. I will respect, collaborate, align, socialize, share and learn. I will follow what my dad told me since I was young, to give all the credit to others, teach everything you know to others, and always spread positivity.
One time, I unintentionally submitted the wrong presentation file for my boss' ExeCom meeting. My extension phone rang and I was summoned to the Boardroom. I brought the correct file and presented it to ExeCom and answered all their questions.

Our boss scolded me in front of the Team. A few months later, our VP appointed me to be part of the Project Team for a special top-secret project in Japan. Our boss has never been to Japan and he got angry at me again.
That was my first visit to Japan and it was beautiful! I told myself, I will bring my wife and family to Japan when I can afford it in the future.
Since then, all the Teams I had the privilege to be part of would call me.. “Patrick”, “Pat”, “Trick”, “Bro”, “Brother”, “Dude”, “Dad”, “Popshie”, or any other name but never “boss”, “sir” or “chief”.
