"HEART-WORK"

A leader is a power-house of inspiration, motivation and positivity. They influence you to do good and be great in so many unexplainable ways. They envigorate you to power-through your challenges and obstacles in achieving your goals both at work and at home. Their malasakit (genuine concern) for another human being is rooted from having the right set of values, the right foundation growing up, and guidance from Above. This is so contagious that you also find yourself selflessly serving others, encouraging others to bring out the best version of themselves, and preaching about constantly doing the right thing. One day you just realize they are able to bring-out the leader in you and your heart is happy.

Some call it charismatic leadership or servant leadership. I call it HEART-work.

Dra Lenlen is loved by her patients because she brings her BIG HAPPY HEART every time she cares for them. She makes them laugh, smile and happy. They describe it as a fusion of physical therapy and happiness theraphy. Dra Lenlen is a leader in the Youth Ministry of their church in LA. Once a month, she helps organize the youth to praise and worship God through music, dance, videos and service for the community. She is an amazing wife and mother of two handsome boys. She is a success story of The American Dream. She was hired as a Physical Therapy Assistant from the Philippines to the US. She did not waste time when she relocated to LA. She completed courses to be a Physical Therapist in the US, got certified, brought her family to the US, bought a house, became an American citizen, and then studied again that is why she became a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

In 1985 when Dra Lenlen was in 4th Grade, she competed in an oratorical contest on national television. She won the daily, weekly and advanced to the monthly finals. Her adviser was Mrs Daral, a great English teacher in Dominican School-Manila. Dad wrote all her speeches. This one is entitled “The Role of Teachers in Our Society”.
