My dad told me that a Team is only strong when all members regard each other as equals. He reminded me that a broom stick is sturdy because each individual stick is bounded together. He continued saying.. Why waste your energy fighting about who is better when all of you can combine your energies as one to be the best.

When my idol Gutsy and I were newly hired to manage our Cebu operations in January 2020, we agreed to collaborate, align so we are stronger, and create a great place to work where everyone is invested in the success of the other person. We added our Cebu head of Human Resource, who everyone calls Mayor Rey, because BPO is a people industry so HR is definitely critical. We agreed this is the best governance model instead of the traditional model of competition wherein 1 wins while the other 1 loses. Why do that when we can all win together as one.

We were guided by the company’s vision, core values, and Rise pillars when we hire, promote, create policies and decide on the overall operations of the Site. We knew the strengths of each one and of the leaders we represent. We optimized and cheered for each other’s strengths while seamlessly complementing each others weaknesses. The passion, professionalism, and Team-spiritedness helped the entire Cebu Team become successful despite the pandemic and various other challenges. No one felt like we were working because everyone is constantly inspired to contribute, solve and evolve.

This gave birth to the Cebu Leadership Council (CLC) wherein all departments are well-represented, empowered and have an equal seat on the table.

Our CLC Town Hall last February 2021 was a celebration of the outstanding performance of all our Associates through the height of the pandemic of 2020, and, how we have started the year 2021 with great wins. This is why we wanted to say “Thank You” to all our Associates for being Rockstars. Hence, our town hall theme was “WE ROCk because YOU ROCK!”.

CLC performed the Filipino rock song “Salamat” (Thank You in Filipino) as our surprise number.

This is originally sung by a popular local rock band called “The Dawn”. We had the privilege of having, Mr Jett Pangan, the band’s vocalist, to greet us in this video.
