There are multiple studies, articles and stereotypes about Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z. Organizations design their policies, work environment and engagement activities to cater to a blended workforce across these generations.

As a Gen X myself, it is second nature for me to regularly consult my frontline Associates. I conduct Skip Level Meetings, Focused Group Discussions and Employee Surveys to provide insights before finalizing policies, processes, activities or strategies. My gorgeous wife Prudence did the same when she was working in the banking industry for 24 years and confirmed it produced great results.

My eldest daughter, Nina, is a Millenial and she tells me my consultative and collaborative approach is great for her generation only IF the leaders come back and communicate to them what you did based on what insights they provided. Because of this, I make sure the results of all my engagement with frontline Associates are communicated effectively back to all Associates across all mediums - email blasts, engagement activities, etc. I conduct learning roadshows to my Team Leaders for important topics. The design is for them to present this to their respective Teams themselves. The results are positive and generates a lot of ownership and operational success.

My son, Great, and my two youngest daughters, Tres and Elisa are Gen Zs. Each prefers to have their own kind of “me time” and an engaged time. They are very protective of their “me time” and it seems to produce great results especially in their grades in school. The engaged time is playing games, watching online movies together or chatting via video conference spending quality time chatting with friends.

When the pandemic forced our Associates to work from home, we realized their performance remained the same or better. We implemented various remote and in-office engagement activities about various aspects of real life like relationships, mental health, diversity & inclusion, planting, safe spaces, work from home tips, health & wellness, K-drama, e-Bingo, etc.

*About the video

My 4 awesome kids are born on 1996, 1999, 2001 and 2007. They are my teachers in effectively engaging with Millennials and Generation Z. Also.. my grand daughter, Avree, was born in 2020. She is my Generation Alpha teacher.

This Tiktok video was one of my “Qualifying Exams” from my multi generation teachers and I think “the lightning from the heavens” agreed I passed!
