As parents, we encourage our children to try different sports, learn new skills and explore the world around them. We let them participate in school activities like plays, debates, choirs, dances, contests and run for student government to develop their confidence and social skills. During school breaks we let them try new musical instruments, cook, accompany us at work when possible, or let them live in the province with relatives for a few weeks.

Our family travels around the country and in different countries so we can experience different cultures, people, arts and food. This widens the perspective and vision of our children about their future. Several norms, infrastructure, policies and technology in other countries are not the same as those in the Philippines. All these help them decide what course in college they want to take later.

Me and my gorgeous wife Prudence let our children decide what college course they want to take. We do not force them to take a particular course. We would answer questions they have about the different courses they can take, what kinds of jobs or businesses require graduates from various courses, and discuss it must be something that they are really passionate about. A course that can challenge and bring the best out of them. They are the ones in-charge of their future and we are here to support them.

Our eldest, Nina, wanted a management with technology course then, take her Masters in Business Administration afterwards. She completed Information Systems in college and recently graduated from her MBA.

Great wants to be in a management course focusing on people. He is in his senior year now taking up Human Resource Management. Incidentally, this is also my college course and he is enrolled in the same university as mine. (Live Jesus in our hearts!)

Tres wants to own an events management business in the future. She is completing her freshman year enrolled in a double degree - Entrepreneurship and Organizational Communications course.

Enthusiastic Elisa, who’s in 8th Grade, wants to be a surgeon or an ER doctor for children. Recently, she shared she is thinking of taking Nursing as her pre-med course so she can be a registered nurse and a doctor in the future.

*About the photo

When she was younger, my daughter Tres, enrolled in a piano class in the music school inside Makati Cinema Square mall. One day, they staff told her she can try the drums and if she is interested, she can enroll in it too at a discount.

This photo is my beautiful daughter, Tres, making noise (joke)… I mean, playing the drums. :)
