Let me share one of the models I use in conceptualizing, communicating and executing solutions when speaking with my clients (or any person of interest). *When there’s a whiteboard and 3 colored pens, this conversation will be fab!

Open your mind and come take a different perspective of the SWOT Analysis with me.

Cool? Let’s do it.

Imagine the 1st Person SWOT is you (or your organization). You know your own strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in relation to the industry of the client. List these down.

The 2nd Person SWOT is the other person (your client’s organization’s AND/OR the client representative you are meeting). You must do advance research about the other person’s SWOT. If it’s several individuals, just do the same for all. List these down too.

Knowing these, you can strategize how your 1st Person SWOT profile can best match, engage and win the trust of the the 2nd Person(s) SWOT profile.

I hope you can visualize this model so far…. If not, call me up so I can explain further.

IF you understand the model I’m describing…. then you’re ready for the 3rd Person SWOT.

The 3rd Person SWOT is the overall “relationship” of BOTH 1st Person and 2nd Person. List down the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the relationship or partnership that you aspire for.

Once you understand this model…. the next stage is you must now practice the art of moving from 1st, 2nd and 3rd Person SWOT profiles in creating and navigating your solution discussions with your client. You must also navigate from the client’s organizational requirements AND the requirements of the client representative in front of you. They are not necessarily the same all the time.

*About the video

Here’s my son, Great, in a basketball training camp in Dumlao Gym last 2016. You can see him tactically navigate through several players from the opposing team to shoot the ball. He needs to think & decide fast depending on the SWOT of the players guarding him versus his SWOT / ability to shoot the ball.
