It was a Friday evening in one of our Provincial Sites when one of our male frontline Associates approached me and said… “You are Patrick, right? Sir, will you still be here tomorrow afternoon? I just want to show you something”

I said yes, I will be spending the weekend here to prepare for an important client meeting on Monday. We agreed to meet at 3pm the following day, Saturday.

When we met at the Site, he pulled me to the drive-way at the main entrance. In happy tears, he showed me a pink bicycle with a big ribbon loaded at the back of a tricycle (tuktuk). He said its my daughter’s children’s birthday party today and I want to show you my surprise gift for her. I am showing this to you because I found out that you are the one responsible for bringing jobs here in the Province. I used to work in a hardware store but because of the better call center salary I now have, I am able to buy my daughter’s wish for her birthday. “Thank you”.

I requested him to join my Employee Round Table for the important client visit that Monday. He did and shared that story to my clients. One of my clients in that Employee Roundtable told me that she also bought a pink bicycle for her daughter’s birthday when her daughter was younger.

When we finally convinced my youngest daughter, Elisa, to learn how to ride a bike. Guess what bicycle I got for her…. a pink bicycle. I told her the story about my officemate in the Province. I was pleasantly surprised and positively choked-up when she told me “I am proud of you, Papa”.
