"What We Need Is HOPE"

SNAPS DAY 326

11/22/20222 min read

Having a bad day is normal and this is the reason why leaders must create a source of hope for their Associates. They help set the purpose of the Team. They create business imperatives to achieve their goals. Leaders must ensure the goals, execution and success measures are communicated clearly to every Associate in the Team so there is complete ownership and accountability.

One of the toughest roles of a leader is to constantly guide the Team as they navigate through their journey towards their goals. There will definitely be challenges that the Team will face, that each individual Associate will face, and uncontrollable situations that lead to the Team hitting a wall, having heartbreaking setbacks and failures.

Powering through tough situations with your Team is an inevitable role for leaders. Show them how its done and also let them try to lead certain projects so they are empowered. You know the strengths and weaknesses of your Associates and the key to bring out their natural elements of greatness. You must be able to identify the right combinations of Associates to manage certain challenges & obstacles, the right amount of pressure & stretching of resources to their limits, and, be able to develop their sense of professional maturity to face any challenge with courage and resiliency.

Every leader sets the tone for their Team. Remind them of the vision the Team has created & signed-up for from Day one. Connect with each of your Associates to let them visualize clearly how their personal goals and aspirations are achieved by way of achieving the Team’s goals. Let them know that you and each of their other Team members are there with them at every difficult, winding and challenging step of the way. The road to greatness may be very tough but as a Team we can and will achieve it together.

Meet Salesian Father Salvador “Fr. Bhoy” Pablo from Don Bosco who is in-charge of the DB community program in Southville 7 in Calauan Laguna. As the head of the Investing For Good program of our organization I asked him: “How can we help your community here in Don Bosco Calauan? What donations, food, medicine, school supplies do you need? We want to help.”

Fr Bhoy said softly: “Thank you for all your donations. We will take all of it. But…. what the children truly need here is HOPE”

This was how our “ONE IFG” program was created. We encouraged our Associates to donate their personal time through Outreach, Nutrition and Educational programs as we Invested For the Good of this community. We had a quarterly sports fest focused on developing sports skills of the children. We have regular book reading program so the children learn to read and appreciate a good positive story. We conducted meal-packing in the office so we can feed 3,000 kids per day annually.
