Business Trip during your...
SNAPS DAY 244

One of the most outstanding Transition Leaders I had the coveted opportunity to mentor is Sheila.
She has no project management experience when she applied for an Assistant Transition Manager role and barely passed the tough screening process. One of my questions to her was - If you need to travel for an important Solution Identification (Sol ID) during your daughter’s birthday. Will you travel or will I assign it to another TM? Without hesitation she said “Yes I will travel for my project. My hubby and daughter know I work hard so my family can enjoy a good life and so I can send my daughter to a good school.” Later she asked me - “If I pass, will you coach me how to grow my career to be like you someday”. Without hesitation I said “Yes”. There were two other candidates with TM background but I decided to hire Sheila because she has BIG goals and she seems determined to achieve them.
Sheila is very smart, detail oriented, very organized, has a sparkling personality, and constantly learns new things. She’s like our Miss Congeniality at work. All our global functional Teams love her and gets things done for her ASAP. Her clients trust and super love her! I regularly receive meeting requests from her client VPs, Directors and Managers just for them to tell me stories about how amazing Sheila is and tell me to give her a bonus, a raise and promote her. She got (I stopped counting at) twelve consecutive perfect 5/5 executive-level Voice of Customer (VOC) scores and acquired a couple of new LOBs coming back from her Sol IDs. I had the coveted opportunity to promote her twice up to Senior Transition Manager in less the duration allowed by the HR promotion policy.

Throughout her career, she is a multi awarded global leader which includes the prestigious COO Leadership Award and the coveted CEO Leadership Award. Sheila is now a Program Director in-charge of Solutions and Transitions. I was in a similar role when I interviewed Sheila. I am proud she achieved her career goal and now working on achieving her next level goals.
