On rare occasions, you ran across managers who do not do their jobs right. Somehow, sometimes some parts of management is surprisingly tolerating or is not aware of this mediocre behavior for various reasons - the manager speaks well and can cover-up her/his bad work behavior, the manager is perceived to be in good relationship with some senior leaders, the manager used to be great but decided to go on retirement mode at work and is being tolerated by some parts of management. In a small organization, this manager can be a relative or friend of the owner of the company.
Tolerating this kind of a manager affects the morale of the entire organization. This must stop and be reprimanded immediately.
Here are some tips of what you can do:
•Provide direct feedback to the manager in order to understand why s/he is missing on deliverables
•Provide direct feedback and escalate to the supervisor of this manager
•Document all engagements, communications about the consistent missed deliverables of this manager and copy her/his direct supervisor
•Email and report this to your direct supervisor or to the Site Director or division Vice President or to the President of the company
•Provide feedback or escalate directly to Human Resources department
•File a complain in your company’s whistle blower link located in your company website
The possible complains you can raise are Lost of trust or Grave & habitual neglect of duty. Once you file a complain, our friends from HR will act and investigate accordingly.
IF… despite all of these, management still tolerates bad behavior, then this is not the company for you.
*About the photo
During one of our family vacations in San Juan, Ilocos Sur, me and my daughter, Tres, were sad to see trash left by tourists right at the signage that says “Keep this beach clean!”
It is everyone’s responsibility to keep our environment free from trash…. even inside our work environment.
