I tell my Frontline Leaders that you are the CXO of a global multi-million peso business.

If your Team is composed of 15 - 20 frontline Associates with an annual revenue of up to half a million dollars. This means you are responsible for a global business equivalent to around PHP 27M.

You are the CEO of your business. You set the vision of your business that is aligned to the imperatives of the organization. You create the brand and profile of your Team. You must deliver on all your stakeholder promises.

You are the COO. Each of your frontline Associates is like your Branch Manager. You must hold them accountable to exceed their performance metrics. Mentor and guide them daily towards success. If anyone is struggling, help them. Do not hesitate to let go of anyone if this career is not for them.

You are the CFO. You must ensure 100% productivity, no revenue leakages, there is optimal efficiency, the reliability of your Team is superb, and you always find ways to reduce your costs of operation while maintaining the highest levels of quality and output.

You are the CPO of your business. You must be 100% engaged with each and every Frontline Associate in your Team. You know each of them by heart, by performance profile and their opportunities.

This is the reason why there is rigorous training, internship and screening for a Team Leader role. You must be the best leader, the best coach and the best manager for your Team and for your customers. There are no short cuts here because I want you to be successful from Day 1.

*About the photo

During one of my business trips to India, I bought a lot of bangles from this shop in the photo. The shop owner's son was able to convince me to buy from their store. He communicated well, offered me various designs, explained which ones are fashionable, which ones are for my wife and for my teenage daughters. He also told me he will give me a discount if I buy a lot. The father was coaching and speaking to him in Hindi. I can sense he is still on-training based on how he was explaining his pitches to me, looking at his father often and scratching his head from time to time. I rewarded him by buying a lot of bangles from him. Later, his father told me his wife has another store near-by and mentoring their daughter.
