I tell my leaders that you must have a One Team mindset. You are not only a leader of the physical Team you see in front of you or the virtual Team who reports up to you. You are a leader of your global organization. So always ensure you align and collaborate with other Teams and Departments.

If you are part of Delivery in the BPM industry, seek to understand the entire process end-to-end or the entire customer lifecycle. Knowing only your specific process without understanding the upstream and downstream processes will lead to a disaster waiting to happen. You must engage and work closely with the other leaders who own the other processes to understand it and be aware of its nuances and opportunities. Be proactive in sharing your process as well so they also gain knowledge. This will increase the collaboration and alignment of all leaders. The result is phenomenal because everyone becomes successful.

If you are part of the Support Department, seek to understand the work that Delivery does. Join weekly business reviews, Team meetings, listen to calls and participate in engagement activities. Having a general appreciation and knowledge of what Delivery does will help you customize your support to their specific requirements. It helps in influencing them to adopt and grow your program of support because they know it’s designed specifically for them.

Our youngest daughter, Enthusiastic Elisa, starred as Mistress Muscana, one of the good fairies in the Sleeping Beauty play in their school back in December 2018. In the story of the play, after the evil witch gave a curse to the little princess, ALL the good fairies gave their individual wishes to the little princess to protect her from the curse. If only one good fairy gave a wish, it will not be effective. It must be EVERYONE HELPING & COLLABORATING TOGETHER.
