Remember to cherish the learnings of the journey along the way. Celebrate wins no matter how big or small.

In the history of the Annual Sports Fest at work, our department never won the cheer dance competition. It’s always amongst the 3 large departments who win the first, second and third places.

When I took over the Team, I told them: “Let’s not get pressured to win. Let’s all enjoy, bond and have fun! Yup, and I’m dancing with you too!”

That year, we won 3rd place in the coveted Cheer Dance Competition for the first time!! Plus… we also won Mr & Ms Sports Fest!

All our hearts were jumping & shouting with joy! We were more triumphant than those who won first & second place. We paraded our trophy across our production floors along with our Mr & Ms Sports Fest title holders!

*REWIND: SIX MONTHS BEFORE

Our targets that year were super stretched and seemed impossible to achieve.

We consulted our 5 Work Streams for suggestions. Our Focus on Associates Work Stream (FAWS) leader suggested to rally the Team towards winning something we have never achieved before. We decided to work towards winning the coveted Cheer Dance Competition that year.

We campaigned and encouraged our Associates to support our Cheer Dance Team. All Teams shared a percentage of their Team building funds for the costumes and waters for the practices . We passed the hat to hire a professional cheer dance choreographer and venue rental. We conducted strict try-outs. We aligned the work shifts of the members of our cheer dance Team so they can practice regularly. We started rehearsing 5 months before the actual cheer dance competition.

Aside from winning in the cheer dance competition… we exceeded our steep goals that year.
